ABOUT BAISHAN AWS

Annie Wright Schools was founded in 1884 in Tacoma, Washington, USA. AWS has a strong International Baccalaureate (IB) education program. The school is ranked first among high school boarding schools in the state of Washington, USA. With a 100% college entrance rate, AWS is one of the most prestigious private high schools.

Qingdao Baishan School was founded in 1993 and became Shandong Province's first private education school. Graduates of Baishan School have attended Peking University, Tsinghua University, the National People's Congress, and other well-known domestic universities. Several have also enrolled in Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, and other world-renowned institutions abroad.

Baishan AWS was officially established in 2018 as the Annie Wright Schools campus in China. Baishan AWS is the natural result of the decades-long relationship between Baishan School and Annie Wright that created opportunities for student exchanges and mutual school visits. Baishan AWS teaches international curricula that prepare students for an Annie Wright Schools, Qingdao high school diploma, which is recognized around the world by universities.

Quality Faculty Team

Baishan AWS teachers have experience teaching both curricula. A few teachers are IB assessors. All are qualified and all continue to receive professional development. All teachers are selected after multiple interviews and in accordance with Annie Wright Schools, Tacoma recruitment standards, including academic background, teaching qualifications, personality, teaching experience, and other factors. Currently, all teachers have more than 5 years of teaching experience, while 70% have more than 10 years of teaching experience at international schools.
Various International Curricula

Students in grades 9 and 10 use a variety of course curricula, including U.S. Common Core and AP®. Students in grades 11 & 12 are taught using rigorous curricula. Through our partnerships and sister schools, students also have access to IB Diploma Program (IBDP). Students at Baishan AWS can fully meet the diverse needs of countries in the U.S. and around the world.
Teaching according to different levels

Baishan AWS is dedicated to meeting the academic needs of every student. The curriculum is flexible and diverse, fully meeting the students' needs to learn sciences, mathematics, arts, humanities, literature, which are all taught in English.
Students are taught and supported at the most appropriate English level. In addition to the differentiated instruction within the classroom, Baishan AWS students take English as Additional Language (EAL) or, for those who test higher, TOEFL support.
"One-to-One" University
Guidance

Students are guided through the important choices, tasks, Personal Statements, and Supplementary application questions. Students and parents have routine video conferences with our Tacoma leadership, as well, to help provide local advice and the most current trends in the college application processes.

As part of our school Mission to provide a unique learning culture that fosters a passion for learning while developing the whole person, Baishan AWS works hard to provide premier extra-curricular activities (ECAs). These include web design, French, baking, athletics, film, music, dancing, and many more.
Furthermore, our leadership and teachers help to provide field trips and lectures that help bring meaning to the students' learning. Baishan AWS also celebrates seasonal festivals of both Chinese and Western cultures.
