Baishan AWS Newsletter Oct.25th

时间:2021-12-01

Dear Baishan AWS Parents, Students, and Friends,

We want to thank all of you who attended the International Day Festival last Saturday. We hope this gave you some feel of the environment that exists within the Baishan campus programs. Our students and staff did a great job in showing not only the culture of Germany, but a team spirit in making it all happen.

I hope that everyone had a productive time for discussion and learning during our Parent-Teacher conferences this week. Our goal is to build the capacity of our families to have a greater understanding of each student's progress, to better ensure success in all areas of school life.

We will be sharing report cards with families during the week of November 4th. We will be sending these documents home to parents in a school envelope, that is to be signed and brought back to school the following week.

We are also working to send our first students to Annie Wright in Tacoma in November. It is a great opportunity for our students to have this experience.

Have a Good Weekend,

Robert Hinman

Director

Art Class

The Art students spent this past week helping create decoration for our German presentation at International Day. They helped cut, design, paint banners and signs for the booth. Additionally, they began working on large acrylic portraits of respected Americans in the style of Peter Max. These will be displayed soon. Stayed tuned to next week!

  English  Show

English 9th had another visit with our 2nd grade reading buddies and finished the week with a little bit of fun planning talk show role plays that used some of the language of the past three weeks. We had one talk show host interview a married couple that scaled Mt. Everest, one talk show where a chef taught us all to make milkshakes and a celebrity guest decided the milkshake was delicious, and one talk show where the host reunited a man with his long-mother and brother. Next week, we'll be practicing making suggestions and giving advice.

International Day

Qingdao Amerasia International School showcased its inclusive and vibrant community at International Day 2019 by welcoming friends and families from more than 30 different nationalities, food from over 25 countries, magnificent performances

and music from America to Zimbabwe. Annie Wright high school is honored to participate in this International Day as one of the vendors to showcase German culture and cuisine to guests.

This year's theme 'Embrace Diversity', could not have been more fitting, with a melting pot of culture which could be seen, heard and tasted from the moment one made it through the front door. We Prepared Sausage on a stick, Waffles, Roasted almonds and Cider, all of them were sold out.

All proceeds from International Day go toward the QAIS Education Fund, an initiative which serves to promote collaborative and reciprocal engagement with the community in response to authentic needs in an aim to promote a better society within Shandong Province and the world. (From QAIS News)

We are always ready to help.
